Non-Invasive Glucometer

  • The study aimed at developing a non-invasive method for diagnosing blood glucose saturation, based upon the principles of near infrared spectrometry.

  • The study also aims at developing a mathematical model for estimating blood glucose saturation values from the spectrometric data.

  • Spectroscopy involves studying the interaction of atoms or molecules with electromagnetic radiation. These interactions are traditionally done in a laboratory or an in-vitro setting.

  • For the purpose of this study however, the spectroscopic investigations are made in an in-vivo atmosphere. The radiations of interest are the near infrared band, since electromagnetic radiation in this band interact specifically with glucose.

  • The study involves the selection of a suitable sensor for these investigations, the development of a robust signal conditioning system, in order to separate meaningful data from the sensor output, and the investigation of a mathematical model for the computation of blood glucose saturation values, from sensor data.
